I made a humorous magazine about bobby pins. I seem to have a lot of them, and they tend to disappear. I named the magazine Kirby Grip because I did some research and kirby grip is another name for bobby pins in Britain.

I really like this picture, I used Topaz plugins, added some text, and played with the hue and saturation a bit.

Midterm - Collage

I decided to do my collage on Frida Kahlo, I've always heard of her but never knew her background so i decided to learn more. I discovered a lot that I didn't know about. I wanted to incorporate the mexican culture of Frida, so i used a Dia De Los Muertos style skeleton of Frida. A lot of Frida's work was very meaningful, expressing pain and passion. The fetus is an image from one of her paintings, "Moses". Frida used fetus' a lot in her work because she was unable to bear children, resulting in 3 miscarriages, which was a very painful issue for her. There is so much information on her and she is a very interesting woman. I admire her more now that I know her history!

I had this picture of me with 3 of my once really close friends. We've fallen apart for different reasons so I found this short poem about trust. It pretty basic and simple, but it has meaning to me.

The first picture I took on the Wharf in Santa Cruz and the second image is just a picture of a bird I found online. Learning how to mask was difficult, wasnt quiet sure if i did it correctly but here it is!

I took a picture of my nephew, again. He just got his first bike so he was testing it out. The photo of the house is just a random house I saw as I was walking near the harbor in Santa Cruz. I thought the house was interesting and fun with different styles. As part of a homework assignment I started playing with color and came up with this:

I was messing around and decided to try another duotone. This is a picture from when I was at Alum Rock Park in San Jose. I originally wanted to make it so my friend was simply hanging from a tree. I realized his foot had been cut off in the original picture so I improvised by adding a dog. :)

I had this picture that I love of my dad and my nephew walking at a school. Thinking of walking, my first thought was yellow brick road; So I decided to have them walking down a yellow brick road. I googled images of a yellow brick road and came up with this one. I then created a Duotone for the image, here it is!
